What should I look
for when trialling the application / service?
We often get new users who are looking to trial the momentem service, and some of them aren’t actually the people who would get value from the service. For example, an IT Manager might trial momentem on behalf of his consultants who would use it.
Therefore there’s an important point to make for those people: don’t analyze the user interface or the simplicity of the app, that belies the sophistication of the service, the quality support, and the fact that it isn’t the tagging process that anybody really cares about (as long as it’s quick and simple to do)….. it’s the business benefit that tagging a call brings.
Here’s another way of looking at it, through the eyes of the person who will get the benefit. Imagine if the call you just had was worth $100 to you because you bill your time, or perhaps worth $30 if you recover the cost of the call, and imagine if you wouldn’t have been able to capture that call any other way. Now, tag that call with just a few clicks and when you hit Submit you will know that the call tag has been safely stored by the system and you have made your money. momentem’s “click and forget” approach is very satisfying to busy professionals who just need to capture that billable moment and move on.
To repeat, the value of momentem isn’t in the graphics of the user interface or the tagging process, in fact the entire app is just a means to an end, the only value in momentem is the resultant tag stored in the system and the detailed Excel spreadsheets that the system produces. Our users actually comment that the interface is delightfully simple, with no fancy graphics or clutter – “click and forget”.
Other things to look for when trialling momentem;
- the ease of download / installation / registration
- the comprehensive online help and quality support service via email
- the granularity of the call tags, i.e. users can really add a lot of detail (or not very much if they don’t need to)
- the speed and reliability of the app, it pops up instantly at the end of a call and never hangs the phone
- the reliability of the communications path from the handset to the server on any network under any conditions
- the accuracy of the system, as can be seen when viewing the comprehensive reports
- it isn’t always apparent that there is a lot of sophistication behind a client-server app+service like momentem including;
o access security
o subscriber management
o interfacing with the handset in real time to handle many call scenarios
o authentication
o encryption
o data handling
o error correction
o learning algorithms to reduce keypresses
o sync and data integrity
o upgrade handling and version management
o unique protocols
o re-tries in the event of no coverage
o customized report queries and responses sent instantly over the air
o instant generation of Excel spreadsheets sent via email
So when you tag that call, try to visualize;
a) what a busy professional recovering huge dollars would feel having just grabbed that call and having automatically billed it
b) the sheer sophistication that lies underneath what appears to be a really simple process
…. and that is the real value of momentem.
