Does the app/service
offer a sync-to-PC option?
This question relates to whether a user of our app can plug the BlackBerry into a PC and, by using sync, extract the tagged records (e.g. call tags) and drag them onto the PC.
The answer is no. Here’s why;
- with our app+service, when someone tags a call, that call tag isn't stored on the device, it is passed in real time to our service where it is securely stored and backed up
- this approach means that;
* busy people don't have to think about syncing or backing up their device,
* there is no security issue of having call tags stored on the device,
* if they lose or reset their device they haven’t lost any tags,
* and they can swap devices and all their call tags are still retained by us
- then, we deliver the call tags from our service in a standard Excel format
For all of our customers, this achieves the same end-result as a sync process, i.e. they click a button on the handset and within a minute the spreadsheet is there on the PC, nicely formatted and ready to use. And those call tags are still retained by our service in case the user ever needs them again in the future. Our users prefer this “click and forget” and “click and get” approach, so we have no plans to offer a sync option.
