What security
measures does momentem use to protect
my account and my data?
Momentem has a
number of security features to ensure data security and data integrity.
They include;
- user identity – each user’s identify
is a 40-bit hash algorithm based on three unique key pieces of information
about the user (email address, IMEI and phone number), and this identity is
checked between the handset and the server whenever communications takes
place. If any of those three pieces
of information change (for example if the user changes their handset), the
user is prompted for a password which would have been provided at registration
- data transmission – all data
transmitted between the handset and the server is sent using 128-bit
encryption and SSL. momentem
is registered with Verisign’s SSL
certificate service
- servers – the momentem servers are hosted in a carrier-grade commercial-grade
hosting facility that is used by many large organizations. The servers are behind an extensive
firewall set-up and the servers have non-routable IP addresses
- delivery of information – apart
from on-handset reports (which are delivered using 128-bit encryption as
above), all information such as Excel spreadsheets and instant email
reminders are sent via standard email protocols, and have an identical
level of security to any public email.
However it is important to note that the momentem service only sends such emails to the user’s
registered email address, and that email address cannot be changed by the
user. This means that nobody can
receive information unless they have access to the registered user’s email
account
- web portal – momentem does NOT have a web portal, so it is impossible for
anyone to reach the momentem
servers and attempt to log in and view user data. The only way that information is ever
sent or displayed is via the handset or via email as outlined above
- storage of data on the device – tagged
event information such as tagged call records are securely sent over the
air and are stored on the secure server, not on the handset where they
would be more vulnerable to theft or loss
